Homemade potstickers with store bought wrappers.

Yield 50 potstickers

Time 2 hours

For a veggie take, drop the pork and up the cabbage (or add some tofu and mushrooms).

Ingredients

  • 500g of ground pork

  • 100g of finely chopped cabbage

  • 6 scallions, chopped (white and green parts)

  • 2 tablespoons of minced ginger

  • 5 cloves of minced garlic

  • 3 tablespoons of soy sauce

  • 50 potsticker/gyoza wrappers

Method

Step 1

Add all the ingredients into a bowl and mix well.

Step 2

Take a wrapper and put a tablespoon of filling in the center. Dab your finger in some water and run it along the top of the wrapper. Then pinch three folds on the right side with you index finger and thumb, and then three folds on the left side. Repeat and place the filled dumplings on a tray. There are plenty of YouTube videos you can watch to get the wrapping right!

Step 3

To cook the potstickers, heat some vegetable oil in a non-stick pan. Wait for the oil to heat up and then put the potstickers in the pan. They can be touching.

Step 4

After a couple of minutes, the potstickers should be nicely browned on the bottom. When this happens, take a small glass of water and pour it into the pan. Then place a lid over the pan and let the potstickers steam for about 5-7 minutes.

Step 5

Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce.
